NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) –
There’s been a big breakthrough in a murder case dating back four years.
Melissa Ramirez was found shot to death inside her Hermitage home in 2009.
At the time of the homicide, Christian Gutierrez and Elias Olea were considered suspects in the case.
Gutierrez was formally charged on Wednesday in connection with the case. He was already in custody for another homicide and an attempted murder.
The other suspect, Elias Olea, is still at large and believed to be living in Mexico.
Both suspects and the victim had ties to local gangs, according to police.
